Hifz Al Naema Center has announced its accomplishments during the year 2023, which witnessed significant and tangible development. The number of beneficiaries from all center activities this year reached 336,205 beneficiaries. The center, represented by the Food Bank department responsible for receiving surplus meals and dry food, managed to preserve 471,222 meals, benefiting 239,248 workers and 15,318 families (cumulative numbers). Additionally, the center distributed over 98 tons of vegetables and fruits, as well as 8,346 kilograms of meat, 17,654 kilograms of rice, and 1,665 kilograms of sugar. It also distributed 3,044 kilograms of dates and approximately 165,000 liters of water. Moreover, the Charitable Warehouse department, responsible for receiving furniture and electronic appliances, received 16,882 furniture pieces, 1,304 electronic appliances, and 1,690 computers, along with approximately 85 tons of clothes. These items were distributed to needy workers and families after studying their cases. The number of beneficiaries from in-kind donations this year reached 266 families and workers. The remaining items were offered for sale at symbolic prices to low-income families, which helped the center develop its work and expand the scope of its activities and services. The center implemented several projects as part of its seasonal programs, supervising the distribution of over 75,000 iftar meals during the blessed month of Ramadan, with more than half of them supported by the Sheikh Eid Charitable Foundation. Additionally, the center distributed 2,000 Ramadan food baskets (under the slogan "Basket of Giving" in cooperation with the General Directorate of Endowments affiliated with the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs) to needy families registered with the center. Furthermore, the Zakat Al-Fitr project continued its partnership this year with the Zakat Fund affiliated with the Ministry of Endowments for the fourth consecutive year. The fund provided 2,000 large baskets of grains for families and 2,500 baskets for workers, in addition to receiving zakat donations amounting to 15,554 kilograms of grains, benefiting 2,608 workers and families. Additionally, the center, in collaboration with the Sheikh Eid Charitable Foundation, distributed 1,004 sacrifices to 2,008 needy families registered in the center's social research records, distributing the sacrifices in main points in Al Wakrah, Al Sailiya, and Um Salal. Moreover, the center received 800 kilograms of sacrificial meat from donors, benefiting 235 workers. In terms of partnerships, the center has formed several partnerships aimed at achieving social responsibility with participating companies. One of the most important of these partnerships is the Solidarity Initiative for Food Sustainability in collaboration with Al Rayyan Municipality. This initiative aims to focus on combating food waste, achieving balance in food distribution, and creating a more sustainable development system and social solidarity to achieve food security for all segments of society and raise awareness of the importance of food sustainability for community protection and its gains. The center has also entered into cooperation agreements with the Doha Expo 2023 and the Asian Cup for Football to collect surplus and distribute it to those in need. Mr. Ali Aayed Al-Qahtani, the Executive Director of Hifz Al Naema Center, stated that the center always seeks to develop its work by improving policies and procedures and benefiting from accumulated experience gained over the years. The center has been able - by the grace of God - to execute 5,413 requests and calls, and we aspire to increase the geographical coverage to receive requests. However, we need more support from public and private institutions through social responsibility to achieve the center's vision of reducing waste, whether it is from food surplus or others, which will in turn increase the number of beneficiaries from the center's services. He emphasized the need for concerted efforts to achieve the Qatar Vision 2030 in achieving social solidarity and preserving the environment. Al-Qahtani praised the role of the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, represented by the General Directorate of Endowments and the Zakat Fund, as they were among the most important partners and supporters of the center this year, continuing to provide support to the center and the families registered with it.
