The Local Organizing Committee for the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 has signed a cooperation agreement with Hifz Al Naema Center, Qatar's leading food bank, to donate surplus and unused food from match days to workers and other beneficiaries as part of the tournament’s broader sustainability strategy to reduce food waste. According to the agreement, a specialized team from Hifz Al Naema Center will be responsible for collecting surplus food from the nine stadiums hosting the tournament and coordinating its redistribution to beneficiaries. Jassim Abdulaziz Al Jassim, CEO of the Local Organizing Committee for the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023, stated that the committee's goal extends beyond providing the best football experience for fans to include maintaining the highest sustainability standards. Al Jassim added, "We are pleased to collaborate with Hifz Al Naema Center and utilize their expertise and resources to manage and distribute surplus and unused meals to targeted groups in a healthy and safe manner. This initiative reflects our commitment to leveraging opportunities during the continental event to create positive change in every possible way." To date, Hifz Al Naema Center has supported over 3.76 million beneficiaries and distributed more than 3.8 million meals. In addition to distributing unused food, the center has assisted the local organizing committee with services such as meal planning and adjusting orders to minimize unconsumed meals.
